Bio
Sean Tyler is a fiber and mixed media artist based in Tulsa Oklahoma. Tyler completed her MA and MFA in painting and drawing at the University of Iowa. Tyler also completed a secondary concentration in printmaking and a graduate certificate at the University of Iowa Center for the Book. Tyler has shown work at fine craft galleries such as 108 Contemporary in Tulsa, museums including the Figge in Davenport Iowa, and university galleries. Tyler has also appeared in group shows in New York, Washington, Tennessee, and California. She has had solo shows in Iowa City IA and Tulsa OK. Tyler was featured in So to Speak journal, Fiber Arts Now magazine, and the Tulsa Review. Tyler has murals focusing on native flora and fauna installed around Iowa in Clinton, Waterloo, and Manchester, along with Edmond Oklahoma. Her ongoing work focuses on natural dyes, native plants, and exploring historical fiber art techniques.
Tyler is the founder of Prairie Fire Dyes a natural dye studio based in Tulsa Oklahoma. She teaches natural dyes, custom dyes for artists, and sells naturally dyed goods.
